Sun Protection for Young Eyes
Although we don't see much sun in this part of the world, it is important to protect our eyes against its harmful UV rays when it does come out!
Baby Banz are Australian designed eyewear, which provides 100% UV protection for 0-2 year olds. The sunspecs are held in place by a neoprene band preventing infants from pulling them off, and there is a choice of 7 colours.
This original design is also available in a bigger version called Kidz Banz, aimed at 2-5 year olds.
Bolle offers a selection of kids sporty sunglasses which mirrors its adult sun wear range. There are 8 models to choose from, each available in various colours, and can be made to prescription if required.
For slightly older children, Adidas have designed a bendy wrap-around sunspec. It is available in 4 different colours and can also be made to prescription.
Zoobug
Zoobug are a range of children's frames created by an ophthalmologist, Dr Julie Diem Le.
She was trying to find a pair of sunglasses for her 3 year old niece and couldn't find anything
suitable. This prompted Dr Diem Le to design frames and sunglasses for children.
Each frame is specifically designed for children's features and comes with a brightly coloured
case.
All sunglasses supplied by Kilgour Optometrists will always have 100% UV protection (with or without prescription).
